For Madison Ryan, being a member of the Oak Lawn Community High School varsity volleyball team is more than just performing on the court. It is excelling on the court, in the classroom, and as a leader of the team.
Yes, Ryan leads the team in digs. Yes, she is willing to play any position in order to help the team win. And, yes, she is willing to take younger Spartans under her wing to help their individual development and make the team better. All this willingness to go above and beyond has a great effect on the team.
“Maddie is a captain and a phenomenal leader on our team,” said head coach Kathleen Miller. “Maddie has a team-first mentality and is willing to play any position to help the team achieve success. She is extremely vocal in the gym and is a phenomenal mentor to our younger athletes.”
The Spartans, who are 7-15 overall and 5-6 in the South Suburban Conference, will host visiting Tinley Park on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
