Being a top runner on the Oak Lawn Community High School boys track team is one thing. Running faster than 20 miles per hour on the track is simply another level. For junior Andrew Rueda, that is the level he’s on as the Spartans wrap up their indoor season and open their spring season.
Rueda runs the 400-meter but serves as a go-to runner for any of the sprint events. Head coach John Jensen is singing his praises.
“Andrew is a returning junior this year,” Jensen said. “He is a tough athlete, often running two 400-meter races at meets, with his second one sometimes faster than his first one. Andrew will be a key piece of our team moving forward, with attempting to repeat as indoor South Suburban Conference Red champions and fighting for an outdoor conference championship as well.”
