Rocket League Team Headed To State

The first-ever Esports sectional was held at Richards High School and consisted of students competing in games including Super Smash Bros., Basketball, and Rocket League.  Oak Lawn Community High School’s Rocket League team of Marcos Nunez, Taleb Mreiziq, and Kalvin Vega won the IHSA sectional in the Rocket League event.   Other notable finishers included Brenton Braxton advancing to the quarter-finals in his gaming event.   The Esports team is coached by Janet Meyers.  “Janet said, “This is such a great experience for our students. I am proud of our boys for their dedication and competitive spirit. I am looking forward to watching them compete in the first IHSA state tournament.”
 
 The Rocket League team will head to Bloomington High School to compete in the IHSA state competition.
