Each week the Athletic Department and the Spartan Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of May 2 is junior second baseman on the softball team, Natalia Rafacz.
This is Rafacz's second Athlete of the Week nomination, and in three games, she was 6-for-11 (.545) with four runs scored and four RBIs. Included in the big week was a monster home run to help the team defeat Eisenhower, 17-2 in five innings. Along with this offensive production, Rafacz made three game-saving plays in the field.
"She has been an anchor for our superb defense all season long," said coach Brian Frangella. The team was 2-1 during the week.
