Osmani Breaks 48-Year-Old Career Scoring Record, Leads Spartans On Court

Osmani-Sami-2
Each week the Athletic Department selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of December 16 is senior boys basketball player Sami Osmani.

Just before winter break, Osmani broke C.J. Kupec’s 48-year-old OLCHS career scoring record (1,377 points) in a 62-26 South Suburban Conference road win over Bremen with his fourth and fifth points of the game.

He has now scored more than 1,500 career points and is continuing to add to that total. At the time of this Spartan Athlete of the Week recognition, Osmani was averaging 21 points per game on 52.4-percent shooting from the field. Kupec presented Osmani with a basketball commemorating the accomplishment last Friday night in a pregame ceremony.

Other nominees for Spartan Athlete of the Week included Zoie Aytes (Dance), Gavin Sheehan (Boys Swimming), Alex Ibarra (Boys Bowling), Michael Kass (Wrestling), and Jessica Sauerwein (Girls Bowling).
