Communication is the key to success, and when students have capabilities to communicate in more than one language, it an even bigger asset to hold. For the first time, OLCHS awarded the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, Arabic, and Polish.

In total, 18 graduating seniors earned the honor this year at Senior Honors Night. In fact, Justine Kwak impressively earned the Seal in both Polish and Spanish.

“This is the first year that OLCHS has awarded the Seal, and we’re delighted to have so many recipients," said Assistant Principal Lauren May. “Language skills are highly sought after in today’s economy, and our students’ proficiency in multiple languages speaks to not only our teaching staff but the support of parents and families as well.”

Here is the list of graduating seniors to earn the Seal of Biliteracy: Nour Hammad (Arabic), Martyna Gugala (Polish), Justine Kwak (Polish), Kamil Mirek (Polish), Pamela Aguilar (Spanish), Dakota Braatz (Spanish), Kevin Celis (Spanish), Alondra Corral-Esparza (Spanish), Ricardo Cortes (Spanish), Piotr Del Real (Spanish), Cassandra Hernandez (Spanish), Jose Hernandez (Spanish), Isabella Kass (Spanish), Salaam Khater (Spanish), Justine Kwak (Spanish), Madeline McGrath (Spanish), Matelda Sweis (Spanish), Ana Torres (Spanish), and Angel Valencia (Spanish).
