As our area continues to feel the impact of COVID-19, one issue has been the need for PPE or personal protective equipment by frontline medical workers and first responders. To help meet that need, Oak Lawn Community High School’s Project Lead the Way instructor Dan Kenny has stepped up to join the fight. Mr. Kenny has converted part of his home into a 3D printing lab. Using three of the school’s 3D printers, Mr. Kenny has begun printing parts for face shields.
Along with John Jones, a colleague at Reavis High School, Mr. Kenny is working with the Chicago’s Women’s Hockey Club, which has started a PPE Assist program to support essential workers throughout the south suburbs, including Christ Hospital, Little Company of Mary, and the Chicago Police Department. The district has already donated gloves, goggles, and other cleaning supplies to local agencies and a large supply of 3D printer filaments to Lemont High School as they continue their printing of necessary PPE.
OLCHS is extremely proud of Mr. Kenny and all staff members who are supporting the fight against COVID-19.
