OAK LAWNS MARTINEZ TAKES LEADERSHIP ROLE AS SENIOR CHEERLEADER

Alexus Martinez is now a senior at Oak Lawn Community High School, but four years ago she was just a young freshman on the varsity cheerleading squad. Having built up experience and confidence, Martinez made the most of her senior year. She took the responsibility of becoming a team leader this year for the Spartans. The younger cheerleaders at Oak Lawn certainly noticed.

“As a senior she has stepped up and was able to help others lead the squad in routines and complex stunts,” head coach Maria Vanderwarren said. She has grown as both an individual and an athlete and continues to do what is needed to better the squad.

“Alexus is looked up to by the junior varsity cheer squad and definitely was an asset on our mat this competition season.”
