In the last five softball games for Oak Lawn Community High School, senior Alexus Martinez has done a little bit of everything. She has won games as a starting pitcher, she has saved games in relief, and she has done considerable damage at the plate with her bat.
Martinez has a batting average of .500 during this stretch with three singles, three doubles and a home run. She also has knocked in six runs in those five games.
As for pitching, she has an earned run average of 2.00 in the last five games and has struck out 128 hitters in 14 innings. She also earned a two-inning save against a talented Hinsdale South team.
“Alexus has pitched very well to keep the Spartans in the game by keeping scores close to possibly lead to a victory,” head coach Shawn Neubauer said.
