Every fall, students from all across the state of Illinois participate in a high stakes music audition process in hopes to be selected for the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) District and State Senior Honors Music Festivals.
OLCHS is proud to announce that 10 music students were selected for the ILMEA District 1 Senior Festivals. Over 2,100 students from 129 Chicagoland area high schools audition for a spot in one of the honor bands, choirs, orchestra, jazz bands, or vocal jazz ensembles. Out of all those students roughly 33% are selected to participate in the festival.
Students selected: (front row) Abby Moore (Choir), Grace Trout (Band), Addison Abrahamsen (Choir), Abbey Dayton (Choir), Carrie Hartman (Choir and Vocal Jazz), (back row) Fabian Quintero (Choir and Vocal Jazz), Daniel McLawhorn (Choir and Vocal Jazz), Cesar Vazquez (Jazz Band), Molly Murphy (Choir and Vocal Jazz), and Kasandra Chavez (Jazz Band).
These students are also eligible for the ILMEA All-State festival based on the scores from their first audition. They will find out if they advance in early December. We wish them the best of luck at the District 1 Festival and congratulations for representing OLCHS and the Music Department so exceptionally.
