For some sophomores, taking on a major role on the varsity team of any sport can be a challenge. However, Emily Moyer truly embraced the challenge of playing doubles with a senior partner for the Oak Lawn Community High School badminton team. Her attitude and tenacity on the court helped the duo nearly advance to the Illinois High School Association State Finals.

“Emily played a big role on our varsity team,” head coach Elianna LaSpina said. “She is a tough competitor and is always looking to get better and strengthen her skills. Emily has great court awareness and is consistently hustling on the court.

“She is such a great defender that she constantly surprises not only her teammates but her opponents as well. The girls played tough all season. The team is lucky to have Emily for two more years, and I look forward to seeing how she will continue to improve and perform in the future.”
