Monster Month Propels Osmani, Spartan Basketball To Success On Court

Each month the Athletic Department selects a Spartan Athlete of the Month. The recipient for the month of December is senior boys basketball player Sami Osmani.

In the month of December, Osmani helped the Spartans to a record of 8-2 by averaging 18.6 points per game on 51-percent shooting from the floor and 76-percent shooting from the free-throw line. In Oak Lawn’s game against South Suburban Conference rival Bremen on December 10, he broke the OLCHS 48-year-old career scoring record of 1,377 points originally set by Spartan legend C.J. Kupec and has now eclipsed 1,500 career points.

Osmani was named to the all-tournament team at the Effingham-Teutopolis Christmas Tournament, helped lead the team to a third-place finish there, and now holds that tournament’s overall scoring record as well. In addition to his offensive prowess, he is routinely guarding the opposing team’s best player and making things very difficult on opposing teams, offensively.

Other nominees for Spartan Athlete of the Month included Marcel Bitner (Wrestling), Mia DiGrazia (Girls Bowling), and Nate Moran (Boys Bowling).
