Each week the Athletic Department and the Spartan Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of March 20 is senior boys’ track and field athlete Patrick Michaels.
Recently, Michaels qualified for the very prestigious Illinois Top Times meet at Illinois Wesleyan University in the shot put. This meet only takes the top 12 ranked athletes in the shot put event. Many people consider this the “indoor state meet.”
The opportunity to compete there was an accomplishment in and of itself.
“Pat went up against some of the best in the state and performed very well,” said head coach Jeremey Cryan. “Patrick has shown a lot of growth this indoor season and is looking forward to an even
better outdoor season.”
