Alfonso Mares had a vision of becoming a leader for the Oak Lawn Community High School boys tennis team. So, during the offseason he took it upon himself to take lessons at the racquet club to improve his game.
He returned to the team this season much improved and as the leader he wanted to become. And the Spartans are anxious to see what he can do on the court.
“Alfonso consistently leads the team in warm-up stretches and frequently gives pointers and advice to the younger players,” head coach Adam Winchell said. “He has really grown into a great player since last year. We are excited to see what he can accomplish this season.”
