Each week the Athletic Department and the Spartan Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of October 16 is senior girls cross country runner Ashley Lizak.
She continued the trend of dropping her time last Saturday at the Illinois High School Association Regional meet and finished the three-mile course in 20:32. This was 46 seconds faster than her time just a couple of weeks ago. The performance was good enough to qualify for the IHSA Sectional meet this Saturday.
“Ashley has really turned it on this year, dropping her time all season,” head coach Susan Szala said. “She really crushed it at the regional meet.”
The other nominee for Spartan Athlete of the Week was Marc Virruso (Football).
