Kennelly's Tenacious Effort Provides Power For Girls Soccer In First Win

Each week the Athletic Department selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of March 18 is freshman girls soccer player Mia Kennelly.
It only took three games for this freshman standout to prove her worth on the soccer field as she scored the first goal of the season and gave the Spartans a 1-0 victory over Shepard last Saturday. She leads this group of girls with a team-first attitude.
“It’s become quite clear that the newest addition to the team is the reason for the team’s early success,” said head coach John Faro. “Her tenacity and dedication to the sport is evident. She is fundamentally sound and plays with an edge and will not be denied her opportunities.
“Other teams have already taken note and will have to game plan to stop her ability. She is a great team player and always gives 100 percent.”
Other nominees for Spartan Athlete of the Week included Natalia Rol (Badminton), Jacob Kerwin (Boys Tennis), and Chris Gallagher (Boys Track).
