English teacher Megan Schillo and art teacher Jen Wargin serve as instructional coaches.
OLCHS added two part-time positions to its personnel this year: Instructional Coaches. English teacher Megan Schillo and art teacher Jen Wargin serve as resources to the faculty. When not teaching or meeting one-on-one, Schillo and Wargin meet with teachers, research best practices and strategies, plan professional development, complete requested observations and feedback, learn new apps and attend professional development conferences. So far this year, Wargin and Schillo have worked individually with teachers and staff in the following areas: questioning techniques, differentiation, communicating with students, colleagues and/or parents, organizing classroom and professional materials, utilizing data, formative assessments, making homework meaningful, planning engaging lessons, observing lessons for feedback, content area reading strategies, and co-teaching strategies.
Teachers can utilize Schillo and Wargin for any of these purposes or to simply engage in dialogue about their professional practice. A google form is available to request a meeting, but Megan and Jen respond to email requests as well.
