Each week the Athletic Department and the Spartan Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of February 13 is junior girls’ bowler Allison Hebel.
As the girls' bowling team competed at the Illinois High School Association State Tournament last Friday in Rockford, Hebel proved to be a formidable force on the lanes and averaged 191 pins to advance to the second and final day of competition. In the end, she finished with a ranking of 67th in the state.
“Allison Hebel had done OLCHS proud!” said head coach Kelly Rumel. “Allison is one of two Lady Spartan athletes to make it to the second day of the Girls State Finals in 15 years. Competing as an individual can be emotional and stressful, yet she performed with unwavering focus and effort.”
In all, Hebel averaged 183.7 for the tournament and rolled an average of five strikes per game. She also held a 61-percent spare average.
Other Spartan Athlete of the Week nominations included Diego Arana (Boys Track and Field) and Michelle Domino (Girls Track and Field).
