It’s not an easy thing to learn a new position on the volleyball court. And only having two months of training to make that move makes it even harder. However, Oak Lawn Community High School junior Maeve Hassett did just that this season for the Spartans as she became a setter.

She improved each game, she gained confidence as the season went along, and she flourished in the new position.

“Maeve was open to any opportunity to help our team this season, which included learning a new position as our setter,” said head coach Kathleen Miller. “She worked hard to step into this new role and led our team with her composure and coachability. Most setters take years to develop and run a varsity offense. Maeve’s growth has been nothing short of impressive, and we are very excited to see her continue to develop for us.”
