Focus and dedication are the keys to success in wrestling. For senior Fabian Melendez, his no-nonsense approach allowed him to excel on the mat. Extra work, extra repetitions, and extra leadership all helped this Spartan have a great senior season.
Wrestling at 220 pounds, he scored eight points for Oak Lawn Community High School at the South Suburban Conference Red meet by pinning two opponents.
“Fabian finished the season strong,” head coach Steve Long said. “He came back from injury and gave us leadership and an example to follow in the room. He worked hard all season long by coming in early and hitting the treadmill. His work ethic and no-nonsense leadership will be sorely missed next year.”
