Last weekend the Girls Bowling Team competed in the Illinois High School Association Regional meet at Skyway Lanes and accomplished their team goal. The Spartans went into the meet looking to advance as a team, and after the pins settled, Oak Lawn finished in third place. They did, indeed, secure their spot in the sectional, which will be held at Joliet Town and Country Lanes this weekend out in Joliet.
The girls needed to continually adjust to the lane conditions all day and remain consistent. The team rolled 4,678 pins and finished just behind Evergreen Park and Richards. Veronika Sopczak excelled as she averaged 170 pins and picked up 67-percent of her spares.
“Our goal at the onset was to advance as a team,” head coach Kelly Rumel said. “That focus proved favorable as the Lady Spartan bowlers supported one another throughout the meet.”
