As catcher on a varsity softball team, one player can truly control the action and determine the outcome of games. Oak Lawn Community High School senior Mia Uriarte is doing just that for the Spartans with her glove and leadership on the field.
Her work ethic in practice and her ability to lead by example in games is truly making a difference for head coach Pat Probst.
“This is Mia’s second year on the varsity team and has been a tremendous benefit for the team behind the plate,” Probst said. “She is one of our senior leaders on the team. She is one of our best defensive players as well. With this being her final year as a Spartan, she will be missed, and next year’s catcher will have big shoes to fill.”
