Featherstone Leaves Competition In Wake To Lead Girls Swim Team

Each week the Athletic Department selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of September 2 is girls swimmer Lizzy Featherstone.
Last week, Featherstone swam some of her fastest times ever for the first meet of a swim season. In the end, she took home two first-place individual events at the triangular meet with Lemont and Thornton Fractional United. And she didn’t just win her events, she crushed the field.
In the 200-meter freestyle she clocked in at 2:11.04, which defeated the closest competitor by more than five seconds. In the 100-meter butterfly she had a time of 1:06.06. That time her nearest competition finished two seconds behind her.
Other nominees for Spartan Athlete of the Week included Bobby Crosby (Boys Golf), Rudy Sanchez (Boys Soccer), Jadon Pirkl (Boys Cross Country), Jake McTeague (Football), Anabel Sosa (Girls Tennis), Julia Janks (Girls Volleyball), and Veronika Stelter (Girls Cross Country).
