Oak Lawn Community High School junior Delilah Trujillo simply has the desire to succeed. And when adding in her natural speed and the fact that she is a quick learner, the sum is a strong badminton player.

Last Thursday and Friday at TF South, Trujillo proved that by finishing second at fourth singles in the South Suburban Conference meet. Trujillo also won second place as part of the second doubles team with fellow junior Sandy Berg. The Spartans took third place overall.

Trujillo shined all season as she posted one of the best singles’ records on the team going 7-1 in conference during the regular season. She just kept getting better each match.

“Delilah is a quick learner and has improved her skills from match to match,” said head coach Elianna La Spina. “Her speed and her desire to win has made her successful on the court. I’m excited to see what success she’ll bring to the team during her senior year.”

The Spartans found a lot of success all meet. Senior Jessica Kasprzak took first place at third singles. Berg also did well individually as she finished third at fifth singles. Abby Pasinski took second place at seventh doubles. The doubles team of Pasinski and Adriana Hall took third place at fourth doubles.

The Oak Lawn junior varsity team also finished in third place at the conference meet.
