DEMPSEY DOMINATES DOWN LOW TO LEAD OAK LAWN GIRLS BASKETBALL

In a must-win South Suburban Conference Red Girls basketball game with Argo this week, sophomore Danielle Dempsey came through in a big way for Oak Lawn Community High School. The forward scored 17 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and was tremendous on defense. The victory over the Argonauts was important, but the month of January has proven to be Dempsey’s announcement that she is a force to be reckoned with for the Spartans.

Earlier this month, she scored 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and had two steals against TF South. She also notched a double-double at Lemont with 11 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Against Oak Forest, Dempsey scored 18 points and hauled in nine rebounds.

“Danielle has been a huge contributor for the varsity basketball team this season,” head coach Mark Sevedge said. “She has been a member of the varsity team since stepping foot on campus and has put in the work to continuously improve her game. Teams are starting to notice that Danielle is one our key pieces, and they are starting to focus much of their attention on her. Danielle is becoming a force for us with a bright future ahead of her.”
