English teacher and basketball coach Mark Kleemann was recently honored for his leadership among basketball coaches in Illinois.
On Saturday, April 30th, Mark was awarded the A-E-O Meyer-Harte Award at the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Hall of Fame Inductions Dinner. The award is named after legendary DePaul basketball coach Ray Meyer and William Harte. Harte grew up in a working class family in Chicago, became a lawyer, and in 1985 was named one of the top 100 lawyers in America by the National Law Journal.
The A-E-O Meyer-Harte Award is to recognize "giving and caring persons of integrity and character who have demonstrated courage in overcoming significant adversity while also excelling and succeeding in life." The award is to "encourage and inspire others to emulate the admirable efforts of leadership of these role models: Meyer and Harte."
In addition to coaching basketball at OLCHS, Mark currently serves as an IBCA Board Member and is on the Basketball Museum of Illinois Board of Directors. Congratulations, Mark!
