National PTA is pleased to announce the winners of its 2020-2021 Reflections® student art program.
The awards honor creative interpretations of the theme “I Matter Because…” in the following categories: special artist, dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. The National PTA received nearly 900 student entries from 44 state PTA congresses in all the available art categories. This year Oak Lawn Community High School’s Chae Rin West has been awarded the Award of Excellence for her photo entitled Self Aware
“We applaud all of the students who participated in the Reflections program this school year, and we are thrilled to recognize the recipients of the Outstanding Interpretation Award as well as the Awards of Excellence and Merit,” said Leslie Boggs, president of National PTA. “Participating in the arts helps students express their thoughts, feelings, ideas and emotions, which is especially important to support children’s well-being during this time in our country.”
Chae will be awarded a $200 Young Artist Scholarship, a silver medal, a certificate of excellence and her work will be featured in the traveling exhibition June 17 – 26.
The Oak Lawn Community High School PTSA is extremely proud of the work of all our entries and would like to give a special congratulations to Chae. “We couldn’t be happier of Chae’s work and the recognition she has received this year.”
