After earning a second-place finish at the South Suburban Conference boys golf meet last year as a freshman, sophomore Jacob Canvin entered this year with high expectations. As the season ends, he still has more work to do.
Last Thursday, the Spartans competed in this year’s conference meet and finished in third place.
“Jacob has worked hard to become one of the top Spartan golfers in his two years on the team,” said head coach Pat Mayer. “Jake burst on the scene as a freshman and had the second-best nine-hole average on the team.
“His hard work paid off, he earned all-conference honors last year and led the Spartans to a second-place finish. Jake’s sophomore season has been very successful as well. He will help lead the Spartans as they enter the Illinois High School Association State Playoffs this week.”
