Basketball's Ward Tears Up Hardcourt With Hot All-Around Game

Ward-Trey
Each week the Athletic Department selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of January 28 is junior boys basketball player Trey Ward.

Last week, Ward was on fire as he averaged 19 points over his last four games, including playing a key role in Friday night’s big upset win over ranked Lindblom. In that victory, he routinely found the open man, scored 19 points, dished out six assists, and was 6-of-10 from the floor while going 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.

For the year, Ward is shooting 84 percent from the free-throw line on 115 attempts, and he is averaging 13.3 points per game.

Other nominees for Spartan Athlete of the Week included Nico Uriarte (Wrestling), Adriana Hall (Dance), Luke Fritz (Boys Swimming), Madelyn McGrath (Girls Basketball), and Veronika Sopczak (Girls Bowling).
