OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelli Evans to the District 229 Board of Education. Evans was appointed during the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting on August 19.

Evans’ term begins immediately and will run through April 2027. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Dr. Kenneth Yerkes in June.

Evans and her husband, Bryant, are the proud parents of two children who attend District 123 schools. As a parent and community member, Evans brings a valuable perspective to the Board and a strong commitment to supporting students throughout the community.

“Oak Lawn Community High School serves as the most important center for learning in our community. It prepares students for future careers, college, and gives them tools to be productive community members after high school,” Evans said.

As the parent of two future Spartans, Evans said she is especially passionate about ensuring that students have the support and opportunities they need to succeed.

“As a parent and community member, making sure that every student feels supported, safe, and prepared for their future is something I sincerely care about,” Evans said.

Board President Robert Loehr welcomed Evans to the District 229 Board of Education.

“We are excited to welcome Kelli to the OLCHS Board,” Loehr said.

Superintendent Dr. Shahe Bagdasarian also expressed his enthusiasm for Evans’ appointment and the opportunity to work together on behalf of the District 229 community.

“Our Board of Education and administration look forward to working closely with Kelli as we continue our shared commitment to supporting our students, staff, families, and community,” Bagdasarian said.

District 229 welcomes Evans to the Board of Education and thanks her for her willingness to serve the students, families, staff, and community of Oak Lawn Community High School.
