Stuff You Need to Know

 

 

Need a ride to the Homecoming Parade Starting Point?  A school bus will be available to shuttle students and staff members to the parade gathering area.  The bus will run continuous from the Spartan Lobby to the Wesleyan Community Church at 89th and Austin.  The bus service will begin at 5:30 PM and continue until 6:20 PM.

 

OLCHS will be offering the PSAT test on Wednesday, October 11th. This is a great opportunity to practice for the SAT test. Registration is now open for all Juniors and Sophomores. Interested students should come with the $16 registration fee to the Student Services Office by September 21st.

Thursday 9/21 – Loras College (pd.2) and College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University (pd. 8/9)

Students interested in attending any of these visits should add the school to their Career Cruising plan, or see/email Mrs. Kenny for a pass.

 

 

Need service hours?  There are lots of events happening in the next week!

Saturday 9/23 – Park Lawn School “Dash for Disabilities 5K,” The Monarch Festival at Lake Katherine Nature Preserve, Oak Lawn Knights of Columbus Sandwich Ministry, Westside Baseball and St. Gerald School Athletics

VFW Post 5220 Stars Project is open every day before school from 7:45 – 8:30 and during pd. 11 in Office 117

Oak Lawn Hometown D123 needs a few volunteers for the WorldVision 6K for Water on Sat. Sept. 30

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT HALLOWEEN! As we enter the season for haunted houses in the area, please be aware that there are only a handful of these events that are approved for service hours, including those hosted by a park district and the Ominous Oaks Haunt for DontBeAMonster.org.  If you would like to volunteer at a haunted house not mentioned above, you MUST have the site pre-approved by Mrs. Kenny FIRST!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Are you interested in a career as a Firefighter or Emergency Responder/EMT/Paramedic?

 

Please consider joining Mrs. Kenny on a special field trip to the MVCC First Responders Day to meet with faculty, tour facilities and participate in hands-on demonstrations, including:

·      Forcible entry simulator

·      Information related to Firefighting and EMT classes

·      Donning and Doffing Firefighting gear

·      Fire hose handling

·      Thermal imager presentation

·      Fire Extinguisher training

Forms and due back to Mrs. Kenny no later than Monday, 9/25/17 in order to secure a spot.  14 spaces available, seats reserved on a first come, first reserved basis (ALL completed forms).

Senior Class. Senior class will be selling the 2018 senior gear in all lunch periods during homecoming week. Check them out in the senior/junior lounge you don't want to miss it ! 

           

Screamers. Friday Night Football Homecoming  Game – Show your Spartan Pride and join the Screamer section in the stands!!!  Theme for the game will be Tourist Day so bring your cameras  and get ready for a great Sweet Homecoming Oak Lawn night!!!!
