Spanish 4 and 4H students worked together to prepare, organize and execute an event completely in Spanish for the Spanish speaking members of the community.  This event, which took place on Wednesday, November 16, 2016,  in the evening, included a welcome presentation from the students, raffle prizes, school tours, and student poster presentations to share information about Spartan clubs and sports.

Also, Student Intervention Facilitator Thea Meierkort and School Nurse Gloria Barrera offered their information and services to the parents with a student translator.  The students were very happy both with the turnout and their abilities to use Spanish in a safe and authentic environment.  Students received service hours for their participation.

Spanish student Jenine Matariyeh said, “It was a very rewarding experience because it forced us to think of our responses in an impromptu fashion, and it felt really natural.” Diana Roman added, “As a native Spanish speaker, I felt that our culture was being honored and respected in my community.”
