Students from the Muslim Students Association, a student led organization supervised by counselor Ms. Razik, demonstrate compassion and giving in many ways.
One example of their goodwill is a recent fundraiser for refugees. Student board members Hagar Elsokary, Ahmad Sarhan, Saeda Sulieman, and Naji Fariz canvased the community to secure a venue that was donated from Zakat Foundation of America. The students brought in speakers and food from Al Bawadi and sold tickets completely on their own. Ahmad Sarhan led from the stage, passionately describing the purpose of the event and how donations would be used. The students raised over $8,400 to provide shelter, clothing, and food for the Zakat Foundation of America. The foundation provides assistance to refugees in the Middle East, Africa, and South America. Club supervisor Samantha Razik said, “I am so very proud of this group. This is an amazing group of leaders and I expect great things from them in the future.”
