Each week the Athletic Department and the Spartan Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of March 6 is boys’ track and field sprinter Anthony Glover.
Over the past few weeks, Glover has made a big impact for the track team. Even though he is a sprinter, he has been expanding his contributions. Last week, Glover ran as part of the 4X800-meter relay, and he is even starting to work on pole vaulting. He is doing whatever is best for the team.
“When we ask for athletes to step up, Anthony is the first one in line,” said head coach Jeremey Cryan. “Predominantly a sprinter, Anthony specializes in the 200-meter and 400-meter. He is a major part of the 4X400-meter relay that has been taking seconds off their time every week.
“He is our true ‘utility player.’ He’s one of the hardest workers on the team, one of our veteran leaders, and is well deserving of the Athlete of the Week honor.”
