Each week the Athletic Department and the Spartan Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of April 24 is senior softball player Annabelle Fritz.
There was nothing she couldn’t do last week for the Spartans. In fact, she went 7-for-14, scored seven runs, had three RBIs and played tremendous defense during the five-game stretch. She helped the team go undefeated for the week.
“She played a big part in the seventh inning rally, both offensively and defensively, to overcome a five-run deficit against crosstown rival Richards last Friday on the road,” said head coach Pat Probst.
“She helped start the rally that started all with two outs, and we went on to win the game.”
The impressive week help boost the softball program to the top of the South Suburban Conference Red standings.
Another Spartan Athlete of the Week nomination was Bayan Hammad (Girls Track and Field).
