"Volunteering for the band since 2003 has been one of the best experiences I could have asked for. Although high school teenagers rarely want their moms around... my boys accepted it and have appreciated my contributions. Upon arriving at OLCHS< I wasn't sought out to help, it was my decision to become as involved as much as I could. That decision has left me with many great experiences, great friends, and memories I can share with my boys when we re-live OUR high school years at Oak Lawn. "I currently have a daughter in teh choir and have a daughter that was in teh choir for all four years before she graduated and both have grown musically because of this group, and the teachers. Mrs. McGuire adn Mr. Hammann are wonderful. My daughters have had nothing but great things to say about choir and how much they love it. I have truly enjoyed attending the concerts and hearing how well these young teenagers sound. They sound so great and so much older then they actually are. "Music is an amazing adventure! It allows freedom of self and encourages self esteem and confidence. My daughters, Danielle & Heather have been involved with many aspects of the music department over their four years at OLCHS. From Treble Choir to Chamber Singers, from Concert Band to Wind Ensemble, my daughters have grown immensely in their musical talents! They have made many friendships and their instructors have kept every day a lot of fun. Oh, and let's not forget that New York trip by bus! Talk about an awesome experience we'll never forget! They support each other beyond measure and are truly happy for each other as they succeed individually and together as a group. The individualized voice lessons have been awesome. I hesitated to sign her up at first. Then when I went to the first voice recital - WOW.
